POSITIONS ARE IN REMOTE AND/OR ISOLATED COMMUNITIES

 

Allowances: Nurse in Charge positions may be eligible for the following allowances: Education allowance ($ 605 – 3850), Recruitment allowance ($6,750 upon signing $9,750 after 12 months)*, Retention allowance ($16,500)*, Expanded Professional role ($6,000), Nurse in Charge ($6,000) and Isolated Post ($4,299 to $23,126 (w/o dependents))

*(Recruitment allowance for registered nurses (RNs) will be paid in 2 installments ($6750 in the first month of hire and $9,750 after 12 months for a total of $16,500. For part-time employees, the amounts are prorated.)

 

Who can apply: Persons residing in Canada, Canadian citizens residing abroad, and Permanent Residents of Canada.

 * Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.

 

Overview

Nurse in charge provide culturally-safe and quality patient care. They are responsible for:

  • promoting positive relationships within the clinical team and community
  • coordinating and supervising care delivery
  • providing clinical guidance
  • supporting management
  • administration of the clinic or health centre

 

We are recruiting experienced nurses to fill various positions available in remote and/or isolated First Nations communities in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Quebec

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements as well as tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) and/or security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

 

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Official Language Proficiency

  • Various language requirements depending on the position being staffed.
  • This selection process may be used to staff similar positions within Indigenous Services Canada with various linguistic profiles including English essential or bilingual imperative (BBB, CBC or CCC).
  • For Quebec Region: Positions are bilingual ONLY and candidates must be willing to take Second Language Evaluations.  This means the candidate must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) fluently in English and French.
  • Second Language Evaluations will be completed for your second official language.

Occupational Certification

  • Eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse in a province or territory of Canada.

Essential Experience

Recent* and Significant** experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) providing community health or primary care nursing services in one or more of the following areas:

  • Community Health (Public Health and Home and Community Care)
  • Primary Care
  • Urgent or Emergency Care 
  • Acute or Intensive Care

Recent* is defined as within the last fiveyears

Significant** is defined as at least twoyears' of experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task

Experience as program or project leader in delivery of health services
