About the Opportunity
As a Family Medicine Physician, you’ll gain experience working in hospital and clinic based facilities - fully realizing your potential and exploring new specialties. NL Health Services is affiliated with Memorial University providing training for medical students and residents. Opportunities also exist for an appointment with the Faculty of Medicine.
There are diverse opportunities available to practice as a Family Medicine physician, spanning across urban and rural settings, locum or full-time.
Compensation & Incentives
Family Medicine compensation is competitive and varies based on the nature of your work and location. There are opportunities to suit your preferred payment method. Your total renumeration is influenced by many things including whether you choose to work part-time vs. full-time, the scope of services you provide and the community of your practice. Remuneration payment models are either salaried or fee-for-service (FFS) depending on location of work.
Your experience is valued and recognized in Newfoundland and Labrador. We offer competitive incentives of up to $450,000 CAD for Family Medicine physicians that recognize your passion, dedication and all that you will bring to our communities. Qualifications
Recent changes to registration and licensure have reduced barriers and allow doctors with comparable credentials to work in our province faster. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) regulates the practice of medicine in the public interest. Newfoundland and Labrador has been diligently working to reduce barriers and to allow doctors with comparable credentials to work in our province more quickly.
New approved licensure jurisdiction pathways for physicians from Ireland, U.K., United States of America (USA), and Australia, as well as others approved by the CPSNL. Individuals must be trained and certified from these countries.
Practice Ready Assessment:
For IMG’s who are deemed eligible for a provincial license and not part of the approved licensure jurisdiction pathways, a 12-week clinical field assessment (CFA) that must be successfully completed prior to issuance of a license. Financial support to complete the PRA program is available with a return-in-service to the province.
