Job Summary

NL Health Services Eastern zone invites expression of interest for two full-time (1.0 FTE) salaried Infectious Disease Specialists in the Infectious Disease Division in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. One of the positions would require the candidate to have infection prevention and control experience/training. The successful candidates will be accountable for the provision of comprehensive health care services to patients receiving care within the program and will be an active member of the Infectious Disease team.

Required Qualifications Education (Post-Secondary):

                     Must be eligible for licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador;

                     Eligible for membership of the medical staff of NL Health Services;

                     Demonstrates commitment to patient-focused care and evidence-based practice;

                     Experience and/or academic preparation in health care management.

                     Specific certification – certification in Infectious Diseases by RCPSC

                     Satisfy credentialing requirements of Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Hours of work: 75 hours bi-weekly

0800 – 1700 hours - may vary according to patient needs or needs of the service to best utilize the time of the incumbent.

Remuneration: Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador. Starting salary will be based on years of clinical experience.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) regulates the practice of medicine in the public interest. Newfoundland and Labrador has been diligently working to reduce barriers and to allow doctors with comparable credentials to work in our province more quickly.

New approved licensure jurisdiction pathways for Specialists from Ireland, U.K., United States of America (USA), New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, as well as others approved by the CPSNL. Individuals must be trained and certified from these countries.
