About the Opportunity
NL Health Services Eastern zone invites expressions of interest for a Medical Geneticist to join the Provincial Medical Genetics Program (PMGP) in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The PMGP has a provincial mandate and provides inpatient and outpatient clinical consultation services across the age continuum including prenatal, neonatal, pediatric and adult assessments. Newfoundland and Labrador is comprised of a collection of founder populations with unique patterns of genetic disease, and adult patients often come from large, closely knit families providing an exciting opportunity to further develop unique models of clinical care. The successful application will also participate in the genetic and metabolic inpatient consultation service. The applicant will join a team of two other clinical geneticists and nine genetic counsellors.
The ideal candidate is a mid to senior-level geneticist with pediatric and adult experience including hereditary cancer and cardiac genetics, but all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, and certification by the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in Medical Genetics and Genomics or equivalent. The candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Compensation & Incentives Compensation is competitive. Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for specialist salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador. Through strong formal affiliations with Memorial University, and on the recommendation of the Program Chair, the successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine allowing participation in collaborative research and teaching activities.

New approved licensure jurisdiction pathways for Specialists from Ireland, U.K., United States of America (USA), New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, as well as others approved by the CPSNL. Individuals must be trained and certified from these countries.
