The Physiotherapist reports to the Manager, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Services in all matters of patient care in the hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities (Subject to Change)
· Provides physiotherapy treatment by assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating treatment programs for clients with cardiorespiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
· Clinical involvement normally carries a caseload of 15 to 20 patients per day but varies with demand.
· Participates in a Continuous Quality Improvement program
· Mentors a variety of students ex: PT students, Co-op Students
· Maintains professional competence through appropriate continuing education methods.
· Maintains complete and accurate client records, assessment notes and required correspondence identifies areas where the development of protocols and procedures is needed to improve client services or to promote more effective staff functioning
· Attends meetings and conferences and participates on committees within the hospital as required
· Other duties as assigned
Education:
Certifications and Registrations
· Licensed in good standing with the College of the Physiotherapists of Ontario
· Graduated from an accredited Physiotherapy program ex: BScPt, MScPT
· Eligibility to membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
Skill, Ability & Experience:
· Excellent communication, decision-making, problem solving, conflict management and time management skills
· Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment
· Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in current physiotherapy techniques
· Bilingualism is an asset
