The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) - Blackwood (Beechworth) will be a valued member of the Mental Health & Wellbeing team. The NUM is instrumental in the planning process and the effective allocation of resources. They are responsible for leading and managing a diverse team ensuring that their staff deliver safe, evidence based, person centred care to achieve a high standard of quality patient outcomes. ·        Qualifications and experience as a Mental Health Nurse and appropriate registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).

• Post graduate nursing or management qualifications
• Understanding of the complex care needs of older people and the ability to manage challenging behaviours in persons with cognitive impairment or with identified mental illness.
• Demonstrated capacity to develop and manage a financial budget and resourceful solutions to control cost.
• Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs.
• Experience with Aged Care Funding Instrument or willingness to learn.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in change management and leadership in the mental health service area, with knowledge of current trends and practices in older person’s mental health.

Mental Health Services at Albury Wodonga Health

AWH is an Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, providing mental health treatment, care and support, including delivering Alcohol and Other Drugs services. We deliver 10 specialised community-based programs, along with three acute care services and three facilities dedicated to recovery and rehabilitation. We also provide services supporting families coping with parental mental illness and facilitating connections to carer consultants.
Our Mental Health and Wellbeing teams comprise mental health clinicians with a background in nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and psychology, all of whom have experience in helping people through a range of therapies. The diversity of our service provides a range of experiences for our team and will assist you in expanding and embedding your clinical practice skills.
