About GV Health

Goulburn Valley Health (GV Health) is in an active phase and growth of its new and dynamic emergency service and is seeking enthusiastic and capable Emergency Consultants to join our team. GV Health is committed to becoming a regional centre for excellence in emergency care and has taken the initial steps to achieve this: a new department, ACEM accreditation and an established and growing professional team. We are recruiting to increase the FACEM team to take the department to its next phase.

Working as an Emergency Consultants at GV Health during this exciting growth period provides the chance to practice within a busy and varied ED environment, coupled with the unique opportunity to be part of a very special era.  To be an integral member of a newly formed team, we are seeking FACEMs, FACRRM, FRACGP with EM qualifications or Senior Registrars who have completed their Part II exams, committed to supporting the establishment of a high performing regional emergency environment in which both Junior and Senior Doctors aspire to work.

You may be early in your career, or you may be looking for an alternative or a change of scenery. You may be seeking a part time or full-time position. We are recruiting to complete a full emergency team of staff specialists immediately to provide 4 specialist clinical shifts per day.

 

An Overview

GV Health is an important regional emergency service – with nearly 39,000 annual attendances and a varied and very interesting case mix, including regional trauma and paediatric services. Typical of regional settings, the hospital has little of the bureaucracy of large centres and has reasonable patient flow and access. Salary and conditions are above award and are generous, reflecting the developmental phase of our emergency services rebuild. The Emergency Physician/FACEM will have access to 20% clinical support time with full CME support. Shift structure is civilised, and part-time appointments are available to our specialists.

Relocation assistance is provided, and travel compensation and accommodation are available for part time staff travelling from metro or other regional areas.

The new trajectory for GV Health Emergency Medicine

 

Our new Emergency Department includes the following exciting changes:

36 bed ED – increased from 18

Three state-of-the-art resuscitation bays

A Behavioural Assessment room, mental health consult spaces, forensic room

Two negative pressure isolation cubicles

Nine additional acute care cubicles

A dedicated Fast Track area with seven cubicles and a consultation room

A dedicated paediatric area with three cubicles and a consultation room

A nine bed Short Stay Unit, including one isolation room

A CT scan room, ultrasound room and two new X-Ray rooms

Selection Criteria

Essential : Commitment to the GV Health Values of Compassion, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork and Ethical Behaviour and ability to exhibit behaviour which reflects our values.

Essential : Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Medical Practitioner and current Fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) OR FACRRM/FRACGP with EM Qualifications.

Essential : Understanding of Clinical Risk Management and Quality Assurance concepts

Essential : Recent experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team

Essential : Will be able to provide clinical leadership and direction to junior medical staff undergoing professional training in Emergency Medicine at different levels

Essential : Will have experience in or knowledge of programs for improving the organisation and delivery of care in Emergency Medicine

Essential : Ability to manage and adapt to change

Essential : A satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian 'Employee' Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration will be required from prospective candidates prior to commencement of employment.
