To meet the evolving healthcare needs of our community we have completed Phase 1 of our redevelopment project which includes a five-storey Inpatient Unit building, expanded theatre capacity, new Critical Care Unit, a state of-the-art Dialysis Unit and an extension of the current Emergency Department.

 

About the role

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of MRI and general radiography and will be able to provide specialist advice and mentor other employees. Managing MRI, the successful candidate will support the Chief MIT and provide leadership to other less experienced or lower graded staff. As the major hospital in the region, patients will present with a wide variety of health conditions including major and minor trauma, oncology, medical and surgical conditions, infectious diseases and mental health illnesses. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced MRI radiographer to lead a growing and dynamic team.

Staff work a 7-day rotating roster servicing a busy emergency department, inpatients and outpatients in a rapidly growing regional hospital comprising MRI, two CTs, three x-rays, four mobiles, five ultrasounds, and five operating theatres with three image intensifiers.

 

 We are looking for

At least 10 years experience as a full MRPBA registrant

Current MRPBA registration, Victorian Radiation Use Licence and driver's licence

ASMIRT Level 1 MRI accreditation

Extensive knowledge and skills in MRI

Selection Criteria

Essential : Commitment to the GV Health Values of Compassion, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork and Ethical Behaviour and ability to exhibit behaviour which reflects our values.

Essential : Current MRPBA registration with AHPRA to practice as a Medical Imaging Technologist and a current Victorian Department of Health Use Licence.

Essential : Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, system or educational theory and a minimum of ten years post graduate experience

Essential : Experience as a senior Medical Imaging Technologist with extensive specialised knowledge of medical imaging techniques in at least one of the ionising and/or non-ionising modalities.

Essential : Knowledge of accreditation, quality improvement and document control processes.

Essential : Experience in protocol and procedure development, optimisation, review and implementation.

Essential : For staff performing ultrasound, completion of an accredited qualification or Certificate of Clinical Proficiency as determined by the Australian Sonographers Association, supported by current registration with ASAR to practice as a Sonographer.

Essential : For MITs working in MRI, attainment & retention of the ASMIRT Level One Accreditation within 12 months of commencing work in the unit.

Desirable : Industry recognised accreditation demonstrating extensive specialised knowledge of a particular imaging modality or system.

Desirable : Evidence of administrative or management studies.

Essential : A satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian 'Employee' Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration will be required from prospective candidates prior to commencement of employment.
