It is anticipated that Interviews will held week commencing 29 January 2024
Applications are welcome at both 5 and band 6 grades: however, applicants for the Band 5 position will only be appointed should the Trust fail to attract or appoint applicants at Band 6 grade.
Where a Band 5 grade is appointed, structured supervision and learning opportunities will be available to the post holder to support progress to the Band 6 grade. It is envisaged that this will occur within a two year framework from appointment.
A waiting list will also be created for any subsequent permanent, temporary, full-time or part-time vacancies that may arise within Adult Speech Therapy (Acute/ Community) throughout the Western Trust area (Limavady, Londonderry, Strabane, Omagh and Enniskillen localities) over the next 12 months.
Job summary:
The post-holder will provide assessment and treatment for a designated caseload of adults with speech, language and communication and swallowing needs to achieve well-being outcomes using a collaborative framework.
The post-holder will be required to provide clinical supervision and clinical support to Technical Instructors, SLT students and others working with the post-holder.
The post-holder will participate in research, development and audit activities in as required.
This post may involve working with a range of client groups in a range of settings and locations depending on the needs of the service.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The post holder will
- Be responsible for the provision of a high quality Speech and Language Therapy service to a designated caseload including:
- Assessment, diagnosis and prognosis
- Formulation of individual treatment plans and outcome measures
- Writing assessment, summary and discharge reports
- Onward referrals to other professionals as required
- Attendance at case conferences/relevant meetings
- Contribution to the relevant statutory processes
- Liaise closely with family/carers and provide specialist advice and support regarding client’s speech, language and communication difficulties to ensure best outcomes
- Work collaboratively and liaise with other relevant Health colleagues and all appropriate personnel working in non-statutory organisations
- Be responsible for efficient use of resources relevant to designated area of work
- Implements policies and proposes change for designated area
- Build and maintain relationships and contribute to collaboration on projects relating to designated caseload
- Contributes to successful change strategies and processes
- Interpret and compare a range of options for treatment of designated caseload
- Contribute to interpretation of future impact of decisions for designated caseload
- Review the effectiveness of alternative treatment options and approaches for a designated caseload/supervisees caseload
- Plan and manage identified caseload in consultation with senior SLT
- Utilise systems to manage own and others time and workload effectively
