Role purpose
Whilst the key purpose of this role is to assess and provide treatment to patients with a limited ability to carry out every day activities because of illness, injury or circumstance, we expect you to represent the Body in Motion Core Values at all times:

Duties and responsibilities
· Help patients to develop and recover skills required for everyday living and comfort.
· Assess, treat and rehabilitate patients to the Body in Motion standard of excellence, providing a professional level of care at all times.
· Assess client’s abilities and help them gain or regain skills needed for everyday living.
· Plan and direct therapy treatment, including physical and social activities.
· Work closely with patients to identify problems, help promote health and wellbeing and assist their rehabilitation process. Ensure patients have every opportunity to regain their optimal level of function and empower patients to manage their problems to the best of their ability.
· Maintain and follow standard quality, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures. Keep informed of and adhere to all relevant legislation, regulations and statutes. Develop quality and effective individualised treatment plans and strategies in consultation with patients.
· Collect medical histories and general health and life style information from patients to identify problems, help promote health and wellbeing and assist their rehabilitation process.
· Review treatment programs and amend as required to ensure on-going effectiveness.
· Complete patient case notes and reports as required, on time and to the Body in Motion standard of excellence.
· Educate and advise patients on prevention and improvement techniques, behaviours and practices.
· Explain all methods and techniques to patients, including any relevant cautions and contraindications; and choosing safe and appropriate methods and techniques to safeguard the patient.
· Keep up-to-date with new OT techniques and technology, displaying an interest in the profession and own continuing professional development.
· Liaise with other healthcare professionals and organisations (such as ACC) where this is required for the effective ongoing treatment of a client / patient. Ensure adequate and accurate patient information is provided to practitioners during handover of any inter-referrals from Body in Motion.
· Manage relationships to enhance the reputation of the profession and of the Body in Motion practice.
· Manage personal patient case load, appointment bookings and timings and breaks, and liaise with other practitioners and the administration team to assist with the smooth running of the Body in Motion practice.
· Ensure Body In Motions Privacy Policy is adhered to and respected at all times.
· Ensure you meet the timeframes for ACC contracts and other SLA’s
· Keep all stakeholders in a client rehab programme.
· Do not practice outside levels of professional competence or the scope of the practice under any circumstances.
