Position summary
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work within the legislated scope of practice including responsibilities in all core competencies. The NP will provide direct patient care, consultation and education to patients and families in the Emergency Department, and will work in collaboration with medical and nursing staff impacting overall department flow and ability to see patients in a timely manner.
The candidate must
- Have completed a Nurse Practitioner program
- Hold a current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class (EC)
- Be in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Have recent experience working in a primary care setting environment
- Have the ability to manage and work collaboratively with an inter-professional team
- Have the ability to be flexible and adapt positively to constantly changing situations
- Possess strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Have the ability to be self-directed in clinical practic
