Sinai Health is looking for a Registered Nurse to support our Special Pregnancy Program, Maternal Infant Program - Medical Disorders in Pregnancy team at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The high risk ambulatory service includes the high risk maternal clinics with specialization in cardiology, hematology, nephrology, endocrine, infectious diseases, multiples, bariatric, neurology, anaesthesia, and obstetric medicine.
In this role you will:
- Deliver family centred nursing care to women and their families within designated components of the high risk ambulatory service
- Co-ordinate care with the interdisciplinary team
- Participate in program planning, quality improvement, health professional education, personal, and peer professional development activities
Job Requirements:
Mandatory
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor’s degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Minimum of 1-2 years recent experience as a high-risk Labour & Delivery/Antenatal nurse
Preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Minimum of 1-2 years recent experience with high-risk perinatal nursing in an ambulatory setting
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Perinatal Certificate
- Current FHS surveillance certificate (FHSSC)
Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of medical complications of pregnancy such as diabetes, cardiac and blood disorders, bariatric conditions, neurological conditions, anesthesia, and obstetric medicine
- Understanding of normal maternal fetal changes in pregnancy and ability to complete a comprehensive assessment of a woman in the clinic
- Knowledge of community resources preferred
- Ability to function in a busy or high volume ambulatory setting
- Superb communication, team work, and leadership skills
- Organized, detailed orientated
- Demonstrated ability to counsel individuals/families in crisis
- Experience in supporting families through perinatal loss preferred
- Computer literacy skills, comfortable with power chart, connecting Ontario (preferred)
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, evidenced-based nursing practice
- Demonstrated commitment to the development of a culture supportive of breast feeding
- Demonstrated lifelong learning, continues professional development and growth in a teaching environment
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
- Ability to perform duties in other clinical settings as required
