About the opportunity

With modern, state of the art Maternity Units, Western NSW Local Health District are seeking new and experienced midwives to enhance their growing team.
You will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary Maternity team providing woman centred care that is focused on individual needs, expectations and aspirations to achieve optimal pregnancy outcomes for the woman and her family.
Our single aim is to provide a service to build healthier rural people and thriving communities, and our Midwives play a crucial role in achieving this goal.  You’ll have the opportunity to work with a broad range of people across varied socio-economic backgrounds and diverse ethnicities and experience a range of models of care.
You will work in a modern facility supporting women and their pregnancies, where you can really make a difference to their lives.
You will be developed professionally by our Districts’ Clinical Midwifery Educators and Clinical Midwifery Consultants, have access to online and face to face learning with the Australian College of Nursing and the opportunity to undertake our Clinical Leadership program.

The Person

  • Current Authority to Practise as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 
  • Demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with the Registered Midwife National Competency Standards, Code of Ethics for Midwives, and Code of Professional Conduct for Midwives (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia).
  • Recent midwifery experience including, antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care and lactation support.
  • Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means; and sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • An understanding of woman centred care and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality midwifery care.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability
