Role Purpose
To provide a range of speech and language therapy services to children 0 – 18 years and their families who attend Children Network Disability Team, within an interdisciplinary framework and family centred practice and to support other staff and students as assigned.
Incorporates the provision of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS) management.
Have the responsibilities of a Mandated Person as outlined in the Child Care Act 2015.
Role requirements
Essential:
- Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification clinical experience.
- Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech and Language Therapist by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
- Previous speech and language therapy experience working with children or within the disability sector.
Desirable:
- Experience of inter/transdisciplinary team working.
- Experience working with children with disorders of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS) needs.
- Any relevant post graduate training specific to child disability services.
- Specific training and experience in assessment of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
- Experience in assessment of children who have a physical and/or sensory disability and/or intellectual disability.
- Experience of supporting children/young persons with life limiting conditions.
- Previous experience in a senior post.
- Experience of completing assessments under the AON process.
