Job summary

The Head of Service for Workforce Planning & Analytics is responsible for ensuring the delivery of an effective and professional Human Resources (HR) service with a specific focus on the provision and management of Workforce Information and is responsible for Workforce Planning and Analytics.

They will lead the Workforce Planning and Analytics department in managing the Trust HR information systems and producing Trust and Statutory reports. They will work flexibly across the Organisation Development division and the HR Directorate to contribute to the Trust’s corporate objectives. They will manage matters, both strategic and operational, in relation to workforce planning and information in the Trust, providing specialist advice, information and analysis, as well as having lead responsibility for the management of key HR information systems. They will also have responsibility for the HR service desk and will oversee the efficient help service on behalf of the HR Directorate.

The Head of Service will contribute to the HR Strategic Partner function to directorates within the Trust in support of the Assistant Directors / Director of Human Resources. They will support the Assistant Director of Organisation & Workforce Development with development and monitoring of sound HR Governance systems with a focus on business continuity plans, cybersecurity and information management. They will have a key role in supporting the development, implementation and delivery of the Trusts HR directorate plan, ensuring integration with corporate strategy and service delivery priorities. They will also provide support to the Assistant Director as required and deputise for them in their absence.

Main responsibilities

  • Support the Assistant Director of Human Resources – Workforce and Organisation Development to provide a highly professional and innovative service for workforce information, workforce analytics, workforce planning, HR service desk and governance.
  • Lead the Workforce Planning and Analytics department to ensure that all workforce information is centrally and accurately maintained, managed and reported within the Trust by competent and well trained staff. Develop, analyse and report on workforce information to ensure key actions, trends or requirements are drawn from it from those using it.
  • Ensure the HR Directorate is adequately prepared for future technical developments such as AI and explore how workforce analytics can utilise this.
