Job summary
The postholder will ensure that the NHS Job Evaluation scheme is used to determine the banding of posts and consequently staff pay rates. This will apply to all new posts which have significantly changed since they were last evaluated.
The postholder must ensure that the NHS Job Evaluation Scheme is embedded in everyday operational processes and that there is the capacity for future matching and evaluation in partnership. This will require on-going training and refresher training, through the scoping of future needs to identify a pool of sufficient practitioners who will be used on a regular basis to ensure consistency.
Partnership working must be maintained and all practices and procedures reflect this as well as compliance with the equal pay legislation.
Main responsibilities
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders and provide advice, guidance to staff and managers across the Trust in all matters relating to Job Evaluation.
- Build working relationships with managers and trade unions across the Trust when dealing with JE matters.
- Provide administrative support to job evaluation/matching panels and managers in relation to AfC. To ensure that all pertinent information is available to panels, such as new profiles, updated handbook and JEG guidance.
- Deal with a large number of issues at the same time, all with tight and competing timescales.
- Deal effectively with staff and managers who are not in agreement with the advice/response they are given.
- To delegate responsibility and authority to the level of staff within his/her control, consistent with effective decision making, whilst retaining responsibility for results.
- To take responsibility for own performance and participate in the Trust’s Appraisal system and to identify personal development areas.
- Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures as required.
- Carry out any other duties or projects as required.
- Arrange and co-ordinate the panels to analyse and evaluate new posts and/or posts that have significantly changed.
- Arrange meetings and co-ordinate HR activities as required e.g. meetings with managers / staff regarding on going JE processes
- Co-ordination of both management and trade union side job analysts and job evaluation panel members to work in partnership.
- Co-ordinate and monitor progress in the evaluation/matching of posts
- May be required to undertake consistency checking of outcomes in partnership with the Trade Union side Job Evaluation Lead. This process should ensure that similar posts both within the Trust and with other employers have consistent outcomes in keeping with the equal pay legislation.
- Carry out and co-ordinate the desktop evaluation/match of new posts in partnership with trade union side Job Evaluation lead.
- Provide advice, assistance and guidance on job evaluation processes to staff and managers.
- Deal with queries and challenges and complaints relating to job evaluation and banding issues.
- Provide specialist job evaluation advice to managers who are proposing changes to existing job descriptions or creating new jobs and roles.
- Preparation of Job Matching and Job Evaluation training slides and materials.
- Support the Job Evaluation escalation process to Directors.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures and HR initiatives.
- Assist the Job Evaluation Lead with and provide training to managers and employees on HR matters.
