Role Purpose
The position will be based at Stewarts Sports Centre and duties will include teaching swimming at various levels both from in the water and the poolside from beginner to lengths, Lifeguarding, gym classes, personal training, general cleaning and other duties.
The successful candidate will be required to be flexible to work over 7 days including early morning and late evenings.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach swimming lessons at various levels from both in the water and the poolside from beginner to lengths.
- Teaching children, Adults and people with additional needs.
- Teach gym classes and provide personal training programmes.
- Lifeguarding.
- Provide support on reception as required.
- Carry out Cleaning Duties as required.
- Work with the Adapted Physical Activity (APA) program as required.
- Operate the Pool plant room.
- Any other duties as required to support efficient operations in the Sports Centre.
The Person
- Full or Assistant Swim Teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.
- A Pool Lifeguard Qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Rerecognised REP’s, Gym Instruction or personal trainer qualification such as ITEC, NCEF, NCEHS or other qualification is desirable but not essential.
- First aid/AED qualification is desirable but not essential.
- You must have an understanding, interest and commitment in working with people with additional needs.
- You must have an understanding, interest and commitment in working with children.
- Ability to teach a wide range of fitness classes/swim teaching classes.
- Experience teaching or coaching.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Have excellent social and inter-personal skills.
