Location: Altnagelvin Hospital, Londonderry

Directorate: Unscheduled Care, Medicine, Cancer & Clinical Services

Contract and Hours: Permanent, Full-time (40hpw, 10PA's)  A waiting list may be established for the next 12 months should another similar post arise

Job summary

To support the existing Consultant Physicians in General Internal Medicine based on Ward 22 and Rheumatologists at the Altnagelvin Site. This will be a full time and fixed term post in the first instance (made permanent subject to mutual agreement)

Main responsibilities

  • The main focus of this post will be the clinical assessment and management of general medical inpatients on Ward 22, in conjunction with the supervising consultants.
  • The post holder will undertake Rheumatology Outpatient Clinics and inpatient rheumatology referrals, in conjunction with other Specialty Doctors and supervising consultants.
  • The post holder will be a member of Directorate of Unscheduled Care. The post holder has access to its secretarial service and provision of a shared computer.
  • The post holder will participate in the teaching and training of medical students.
  • He/she will be expected to undertake continuing medical education (CME/CPD).
  • The post holder will participate in multi-professional audit, Quality Improvement and educational activities within the Unit and the Directorate.
  • The post holder may be required to deputise as far as is practicable for absent colleagues of the same or other grades not lower than the Specialty Doctor.
  • There are no over-night on-call commitments with this post.
  • Any changes to the working arrangements will be by means of discussion and agreement (which should not unreasonably be withheld) with the post holder
