Job summary
The post-holder will work with the Assistant Director of HR and the Head of Service to provide people services in support of our medical and dental workforce across the Trust, to support the delivery of high-quality care for patients and to contribute to the Trust’s HR Strategy. They will support the Assistant Director of HR in fulfilling their role as a strategic partner within the medical and dental workforce and participate in the delivery of projects or pieces of work commissioned by the Assistant Director of HR or Director of HR as appropriate.
They will assist in developing and leading a programme of work to proactively support the forward planning, engagement and performance of the medical and dental workforce, embedding good consistent HR practice and raising people management capability across the clinical management teams across the Trust.
The post holder will advise and support clinical managers in the development and modernisation of their services and related workforce, providing advice and direction on a range of HR and change management processes. This will include the provision of advice and guidance on medical and dental terms and conditions of service and in particular the provision of expert support to managers in handling concerns about Doctors and Dentists through the Maintaining High Professional Standards in the Modern HPSS process (MHPS).
They will build relationships with Managers and support them in taking forward initiatives to assist with service improvement projects as required and will support our Business Partner colleagues in the delivery of Attendance Management processes for our medical and dental workforce, to maximise capacity and develop good practice across the organisation.
Main responsibilities
- To provide specialist HR advice and support on complex HR issues to the Medical Director, Clinical/Service Managers, Assistant Directors and other stakeholders, relating to our medical and dental workforce across the range of HR functions, ensuring that organizational and legislative requirements are met and standards of good practice are maintained
- To provide appropriate support to the Medical Director and the Assistant Director of HR in managing processes to address the performance and any concerns about doctors and dentists in line with DHSSPS “Maintaining High Professional Standards in the Modern HPSS” (November 2005) (MHPS) requirements
- To advise and assist managers at all stages of the informal and formal resolution of employee relations cases.
- To advise and support clinical managers in the development and modernisation of their services and related workforce requirements for the medical and dental workforce and to ensure HR and change initiatives are embedded and benefits realised.
- To work closely with the Director, Assistant Director, Head of Service, Medical Director and Clinical managers to ensure high quality positive employee relations across the Trust involving medical/dental staff – actively contributing to the early and proactive resolution of potential concerns and ensuring that as appropriate
- To lead on specific project work, as may be assigned, ensuring that outcomes are relevant, effective and delivered within defined timescales. Project work will involve research, communication, consultation and/or negotiation, planning, implementation and evaluation.
