THE ORGANIZATION

North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique health care organization with three primary roles: providing acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, functioning as the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it’s the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario. At more than 400 beds, our state-of-the-art regional health centre has over 150 physicians, 2300 employees and 250 volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS

       Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required

       Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate is required (recent within the last twelve months)

       Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate required

       Flexibility to work within an inter-disciplinary environment required

       Excellent Verbal de-escalation skills required

       I.V. Therapy care and management required

       Experience in Mental Health Nursing

       Current Certifications in:

 Wound management

 VAC management

 Central lines and CADD pumps

 Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) Certification

 Enteral feed and tracheostomy

        Experience with:

- Central Venous Lines Management (CVC)

- Wound management (simple, complex)

- Drain care and management

- Ostomy care and management

- Vac Therapy

- Hyperalimentation, enteral feeding care and managements

- Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Certification

- CADD pain pump, (epidural, PCA, palliative care modalities)

- Pain management

- Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI); whistle tipping an asset

- Burn care and management

- Telemetry management

- Chest tube care and management

- Tracheostomy and suctioning care

       Apex Innovations Canadian Hemispheres Stroke Competency required

        National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required

        Acute Stroke and Stroke Rehabilitation Unit Orientation

        Recent palliative care experience

        Current Advanced Cardiac life Support (ACLS) Certificate (within 2 years)

        Coronary Care Course (min. 25 hrs.) and/or Lead II/12 Lead Interpretation Course (min. 25 hrs.)

        Canadian Triage & Acuity Scale (CTAS) Certification

        Critical Care Certificate

        Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC),

        Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),

        Emergency Nursing Certification

        Must have or be able to obtain certification of added nursing skills and delegated medical acts specific to C.C.U. by the end of orientation period

-       Cardioversion/defibrillation

-       Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)

-       Application of external pacemaker

-       Arterial line management

-       Emergency drugs administration

-       Ventilators

-       Central Line management with CVP monitoring

       Must have or be able to obtain certification of added nursing skills and delegated medical acts specific to Emergency by the end of orientation period

-        Cardioversion/defibrillation

-        Application of external pacemaker

        Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check recent within six (6) months
