

Social Care Worker Recruitment Day
Interviews will take place on Saturday 7th June 2025
Location: Lisnamallard Day Centre, Woodside Avenue, Omagh BT79 7BP
Time: 10am to 3pm.

The social care worker is part of the short break care team whose function is to attend to the personal, social and emotional needs of children and young people with a learning disability, physical disability, challenging behavior and/or autism. This maybe within the short break facility, in the child’s home and /or in the local community under the direction of the Social Work Manager.
Responsibilities
- To provide a service for families in the child’s home and/or in the local community, including organising, accompanying and participating in suitable social activities and assist parents in implementing suitable routines for the child in line with identified Care Plans.
- To ensure the provision of a warm and caring environment and taking an active part in the full range of household tasks e.g. cooking, cleaning, dusting, mopping etc., to help promote a homely atmosphere.
- To attend to the personal care of children, i.e. showering, feeding, toileting etc. and ensuring the standards of privacy, dignity etc. are adhered to.
- Assist with washing and ironing of children and household laundry.
- To assist in the organising and accompaniment of children on recreational trips, structured activities within the home and attendance at any necessary appointments.
- Ensure equipment and materials for personal care are kept appropriately.
- To be available to listen and talk to the child both verbally and non-verbally and the general supervision of children.
- To take responsibility for care of children in or out of the home without direct supervision when required.
- To report to the Social Work Manager any untoward incidents, falls, accidents, complaints, etc. and contribute to the maintenance of appropriate records within the established procedures.
