Contract and hours: Post 1: Permanent / Full Time, Post 2: Temporary / Full Time (up to 5th February 2026)

The Social Worker will be primarily responsible for the direct provision of quality social work services to children and families. He/she will work as a member of a social work team and under direction will be responsible for the management of a caseload. The Family Centre Social Worker will deliver specific areas of intervention with children and parents as requested by referring Social workers in response to assessments and care plans , and will work alongside referring social workers to  contribute to overall  assessments and case management. The social worker will also be expected to attend to his/her professional development through training, supervision and learning. 

Main responsibilities

  • Direct practice with children and families delivering individual work and group work.
  • Deliver specific areas of intervention with children and parents as requested by referring Social workers and in response to assessments and care plans.
  • Participate in Child Protection and Looked After Children processes.
  • Attend court and present evidence in legal proceedings when appropriate.
  • Participate in effective partnership work involving interagency, and multi-disciplinary practice.
  • Engage with service users and carers to promote participation.
  • Facilitation, and practice development.
  • Provide support and advice to others commensurate with own level of experience.
  • Access and participate in, as appropriate research and other developmental activity relevant to improving standards of practice.
  • Participate in the development of evidence based practice within the Child Care Programme.
  • Promote high standards of social work practice.
  • Governance and reporting responsibility.
  • Liaise with relevant statutory, voluntary and independent sector organisations.
  • Maintain clear records of work undertaken including assessment, review reports and records of intervention.
  • Participate in a professional supervision process with Team Leader.
  • Provide data for use in service development and monitoring performance and outcomes.
  • Continuous Professional Development.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge and practice skills through supervision and training, linked to continuing registration requirements.
