Job Summary (Staff Midwife – Band 6)
- Lead professional for a designated caseload of women receiving maternity care.
- Skilled and experienced practitioner able, without supervision, to assess, provide care, advice and support to women (and families) throughout the antenatal, labour and postnatal episodes of care.
- Able to provide both midwife led care for women with normal pregnancies (low risk) and also to work as part of a team, providing antenatal and postnatal care to women with a range of medical/obstetric complications (high risk).
- A mentor / assessor able to monitor and assess learners.
- Deputise for the Ward Manager / Team leader in his / her absence.
- Will co-ordinate shift (wards), allocating staff to women with regard to clinical needs / workload and development needs / skills of staff.
Job Summary (Registered Midwife newly qualified and preceptorship – Band 5)
- A qualified practitioner able, without direct supervision, to assess, provide care, advice, and support to low risk women throughout antenatal, labour and postnatal periods.
- Will develop competencies and acquire additional skills necessary to work as part of a team providing care for both low risk and high-risk women.
